Nobody Tells This To Beginners...

A lot of people will know this already, but I really like it, so I thought I'd share.

I would also take from this the idea that you shouldn't worry if your Nanowrimo-ing is going appallingly, for whatever reason: just think of it as part of your necessary body of work :) Think how much nearer you're getting to your goal, given the logic above.

P.S. My sad, sad weigh-in: 15,188. I am now really, really behind!

  1. I love that! One writer that I heard speak said you need to get the bad stories out of your system before you can write the good ones.

  2. Ah, that's great too! So much good advice out there *sigh*

I guess the challenge is taking any of it :)

  3. Only November 15 and you have 15K words. I think that is success. I also was inspired by those sentimenets by Ira Glass and wrote a blog post about it. Thank you for reinspiring me.

  4. I'll add my thanks to the list about that. And I think I'm going to share it too. Moreover, I think I need to tape this to my mirror or something. Good luck on your NaNoWriMo. I really admire all the people taking part. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to give it a shot next year.

  5. Thanks Gale - I guess it is an achievement when you put it that way! I wrote another 1000 words last night and have just sat down again, hopeful, at my computer, so fingers crossed I make it to the 50k by the end.

Cherie - taping it to your mirror is an excellent idea! It's a hard truth, but it's a good one to hear. Thanks for the Nano encouragement; I might bitch about it, but it's a really, really great thing to do. I've never felt so motivated, or so encouraged by the community online, both of which are lovely.

    Thanks for stopping by!
